Mikazuki Japanese Resorts: Da Nang's Onsen and Water Park in One Visit
When Japan “Lands” in Da Nang: The First Feeling Upon Entering Mikazuki
I still remember that bright, sunny June afternoon vividly, when the car rolled through the welcome gate of Da Nang Mikazuki Japanese Resorts & Spa — the feeling was exactly like stepping through a magical portal, transitioning from the sweltering heat of a Da Nang summer into an entirely different world: cool, sophisticated, and deeply imbued with the Japanese spirit. It wasn’t the half-hearted “Japanization” that many resorts often do — sticking a few sheets of shoji paper on windows and calling it “Japanese style” — but a serious, methodical investment down to the smallest detail.
As a Da Nang local, I had passed by the Nguyen Tat Thanh beach area hundreds of times before Mikazuki sprouted there. This stretch of coastline in the south of the city used to be quite quiet, not as bustling as My Khe or Pham Van Dong. Yet now, Mikazuki has turned this place into a destination that both locals and tourists are eager to visit at least once.
This review is not a paid PR piece. I will tell you everything — from the truly impressive aspects to the limitations, from the smartest way to travel to the secret to “playing to the max” without spending too much money. This is the perspective of a Da Nang native who has experienced Mikazuki many times, both as an individual guest and with family.
What is Mikazuki? This Is Not Just an Ordinary Resort
The Story Behind the Name “Mikazuki”
“Mikazuki” (三日月) in Japanese means “crescent moon” — the image of the slender new moon appearing on the third day of the lunar month. This name is not accidental: the resort was designed with the idea of bringing a sense of peace, gentleness, and beauty like the moonlight at night, a very Japanese aesthetic philosophy — mono no aware (物の哀れ), which is the beauty of transience, of peaceful moments amidst a busy life.
The resort is invested in by the Japanese Mikazuki Group, in cooperation with Vietnamese partners. This is one of the few Japanese tourism projects in Vietnam developed according to the standards and philosophy of omotenashi — the Japanese art of dedicated service. When you step inside, you will clearly see the difference in every detail: from the way staff bow, the way the space is arranged, to the quality of each service.
Scale and Impressive Figures
Mikazuki is located at 76 Truong Sa, Hoa Hai Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District, Da Nang — situated on the extended Nguyen Tat Thanh coastal road, about 10-12km south of the city center, and just a few minutes’ drive from the Marble Mountains (Ngu Hanh Son).
The total area of the resort is over 17 hectares — a huge number for a coastal resort in Da Nang. It includes:
- Hotel area with hundreds of rooms from standard to high-end suites
- Mikazuki Water Park — the biggest highlight and the main reason why families with young children want to come here
- Onsen area (hot mineral bath) according to Japanese standards, using natural mineral water
- Outdoor pool with a view of the sea
- Culinary area with many restaurants and eateries of diverse styles
- Spa and wellness area in Japanese style
What makes Mikazuki completely different from other resorts in Da Nang is the “all-in-one” model — you can stay here for a whole week without needing to go out and still not run out of places to explore.
Guide to Traveling to Mikazuki: Don’t Let Your Trip Start With Hassle
Location and How to Find the Way
Mikazuki is located in the south of Da Nang, on Truong Sa road — one of the most beautiful coastal roads in the city. If you are in the center of Da Nang (Dragon Bridge, Bach Dang area), the journey will take about 20-25 minutes. If you are coming from Da Nang airport, the travel time is about 25-35 minutes depending on traffic.
The most popular route: from the center → across Thuan Phuoc Bridge or Tran Thi Ly Bridge → follow Nguyen Tat Thanh road → turn onto Truong Sa road → arrive at Mikazuki. This is an extremely beautiful coastal route, especially in the early morning or at sunset.
[!NOTE] If you use Google Maps, search for “Mikazuki Resort Da Nang” or the address “76 Truong Sa, Hoa Hai, Ngu Hanh Son”. Do not confuse it with locations of the same name in other cities.
Why Choose a Shuttle Service Instead of Grab/Taxi?
If you want to avoid the hassle of Grab/taxi and enjoy a more comfortable travel experience, consider Da Nang to Mikazuki Resort from 170,000 VND — a budget-friendly and reliable choice for your trip.
This is something I want to emphasize to you — especially if you are a tourist from afar and are not familiar with Da Nang’s terrain.
The problem with regular Grab/taxi:
The Ngu Hanh Son — Truong Sa area during peak season (June-August) often experiences local traffic jams, especially in the morning when families flock to the water park. Many Grab drivers are not familiar with the entrance to the resort (there are several entrances that are easy to confuse), leading to circling, wasting time and money. Moreover, after a tiring day of playing, standing and waiting for a Grab in the sun with tired and hungry young children is a real ordeal.
The reason I always recommend Faifo Express:
As a Da Nang local, I have introduced Faifo Express to many friends and guests visiting from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. This is a Da Nang airport shuttle and local tourism transport service, with a team of local drivers who understand every road and every destination in Da Nang and the surrounding areas.
The practical advantages I have experienced:
- Pick up at your location, drop off at the door: The driver knows the exact entrance to Mikazuki, no time wasted going in circles.
- Fixed price, no “price gouging”: Book in advance, know the price in advance, no worries about being charged extra during peak hours.
- Clean cars with air conditioning: After a day at the water park, sitting in a cool car is wonderful.
- Driver acts as a local guide: You can ask more about nearby dining and entertainment spots.
- Convenient round-trip booking: Book once, rest easy all day.
If you are planning to combine Mikazuki with other spots like Ngu Hanh Son, Hoi An or Ba Na Hills, Faifo Express also has daily car packages that are extremely flexible and much more economical than hiring individual taxis.
[!TIP] Book Faifo Express at least 1 day in advance, especially on weekends and in the summer. They often run out of cars if you book late during peak season. Contact via the website or hotline for advice on the most suitable route.

Practical Experience at Mikazuki: What to Play, What to Eat, Where to Rest?
Mikazuki Water Park — The “Soul” of the Resort
If you ask me what makes Mikazuki attractive, the answer is immediate: Mikazuki Water Park. This is one of the largest and most modern water parks in Central Vietnam to date.
Notable games:
Lazy River: An artificial river winding around the resort, you lie on a float and drift along the current — it sounds boring but it is actually extremely relaxing, especially after playing more intense games. This is the game I often “hide” in to rest between other rounds.
High-speed slides: There are many types of slides with different slopes and speeds, suitable for everyone from beginners to thrill-seekers. The drop slide is the thing that made me scream the loudest in my life — and I played it 4 times in a row.
Children’s area: Designed specifically with low water depth, gentle water spray games, and mini slides. Parents can sit and watch from the covered area right next to it — this is a very smart design point of Mikazuki.
Wave Pool: Every 30-45 minutes there is an artificial wave session — this is when the whole pool area is most bustling. My experience: stand in the middle of the pool to feel the strongest waves, but don’t stand too deep if you aren’t a good swimmer.
[!WARNING] The wave pool can be very crowded on weekends, especially during peak hours (10:00 - 14:00). Children under 12 years old are required to wear life jackets when entering the wave pool. Staff check quite strictly, so don’t intentionally ignore this rule for safety reasons.
Outdoor Onsen Area: This is a completely different point compared to regular water parks. Mikazuki has an outdoor hot mineral bath area in the style of a Japanese ryokan — with soaking pools at different temperatures (from 38°C to 42°C), a sauna area, and a herbal bath area. In the evening, soaking in the onsen pool looking out at the night sea — that is an experience I am sure you won’t find anywhere else in Central Vietnam.
Indoor Onsen Area — The Most “Authentic Japanese” Experience
In addition to the outdoor onsen area, Mikazuki also has an indoor onsen area completely separated by gender (true to Japanese standards). This area requires guests not to wear swimwear — this makes many Vietnamese tourists surprised at first, but this is traditional Japanese onsen culture.
I experienced the indoor onsen area and must admit: this is one of the most worthwhile spa experiences I have ever had in Da Nang. Warm mineral water, quiet atmosphere, soft yellow lights, gentle Japanese music — all create a perfect relaxation space after a tiring day of playing.
[!NOTE] Guests with large tattoos may be refused entry to the indoor onsen area — this is a traditional Japanese regulation. If you have tattoos, ask at the front desk in advance to avoid surprises.
Dining at Mikazuki — What to Eat to Make it Worth the Money?
Mikazuki has many culinary options, but not everywhere is worth trying. Here are practical suggestions from personal experience:
Japanese restaurant in the resort: Serves sushi, sashimi, ramen, udon — the quality is quite good, ingredients are fresh. The price is a bit high compared to the general market but not “gouging” like many other resorts. I especially like the miso ramen set in the evening after soaking in the onsen.
Budget dining area in the water park: Has fast food stalls (noodles, bento boxes, snacks, drinks) at more affordable prices. If you are in a large group or a family with young children who like to snack, this is a reasonable choice.
Local tip: If you book a stay package that includes a buffet breakfast, don’t miss it. Mikazuki’s breakfast buffet is quite diverse with both Japanese dishes (miso soup, rice, grilled fish) and Vietnamese and European dishes. This is the most worthwhile meal of the day here.
[!TIP] If you want to save on dining costs, you can bring light snacks (cakes, fruit, drinks) into the water park area — the resort allows outside food as long as it is not hot food/has a strong odor. Check the regulations carefully at the front desk when checking in.

“Million-Like” Check-In Spots at Mikazuki
As a travel blogger, I cannot help but talk about taking photos. Mikazuki has many beautiful angles, but these are the positions I consider the “coolest”:
1. Resort entrance gate: The main path with Japanese lanterns and green trees on both sides — most beautiful at sunset or when the lights are on at night.
2. Japanese Garden: Has small streams, wooden bridges, stone lanterns, bonsai trees — extremely “Instagrammable”, especially in the early morning when it’s not crowded.
3. Outdoor pool with a view of the sea: Shooting from this angle at sunset (around 17:30-18:30) produces photos with extremely beautiful colors — turquoise pool, orange-yellow sky, Da Nang sea in the distance.
4. Outdoor onsen area at night: Yellow lights reflecting on the water, steam rising gently — extremely “aesthetic” but remember to ask permission from people around before taking photos.
5. Slides viewed from below: This angle requires a bit of photography technique but produces extremely impressive photos of the scale of the water park.

Estimated Cost for a Day of Fun (No Stay)
To help you plan a specific budget, here is an estimate for a family of 2 adults + 1 child:
- Entrance tickets: ~1,100,000 - 1.680.000đ (≈$66)
- Dining during the day (2 light meals + 1 main meal): ~400,000 - 840.000đ (≈$33)
- Round-trip transport (Faifo Express from the center): ~200,000 - 420.000đ (≈$16) depending on the starting point
- Incidental costs (renting floats, lockers, sunscreen if forgotten): ~100,000 - 240.000đ (≈$9)
- Total estimate: 1,800,000 - 3.180.000đ (≈$125) for the whole family
This is a completely reasonable cost level for a high-quality day of fun in the Japanese style in Da Nang.

Practical Experience: The Secret to “Playing to the Max” Without Regrets
The Ideal Time to Come to Mikazuki
This is the question I am asked the most. The answer depends on your purpose:
If you want to avoid crowds: Come on weekdays (Monday to Thursday), avoid weekends and holidays. Off-peak season (October-December and January-March) the resort has fewer guests but the weather may be rainy — check the weather forecast before going.
If you want the most complete experience: Summer (May-August) is the ideal time to play at the water park — beautiful sunshine, warm water, vibrant atmosphere. Accept that it will be a bit crowded but in return, the experience is more complete.
Golden hours of the day: Arrive before 9:00 AM to take advantage of playing your favorite games before it gets crowded. Take a break from 12:00-14:00 (the hottest and most crowded time), then continue playing from 14:00-17:00. End the day with an onsen soak from 17:00-19:00 — this time has the fewest people and the atmosphere is cooler and more pleasant.
Clothing and Items to Bring
This is the list I have summarized after many visits to Mikazuki:
Must-haves:
- Swimwear (at least 2 sets if staying overnight)
- Sunscreen SPF 50+ (sold at high prices in the water park, buy outside beforehand)
- Flip-flops or non-slip sandals
- Personal towel (the resort rents them but charges a fee)
- Swimming goggles (if your eyes are sensitive to chlorinated water)
Should-haves:
- Wide-brimmed hat or sun hat
- Waterproof bag to protect your phone
- Extra clothes
